Pokémon GO type chart (multipliers differ from the main series)
BattleLast checked 2026-10-31
In 3 lines
- In GO, super effective is 1.6× and not very effective is 0.625×, and the main series' 'no effect' becomes 0.39× instead.
- A double weakness takes 1.6 × 1.6 = 2.56× damage, which is huge.
- When attacking, look at the 'super effective' column in the chart below. When defending, check the opponent's move type in the 'not very effective' column.
Type multipliers in GO
| Matchup | Pokémon GO | Main series |
|---|---|---|
| Super effective | 1.6× | 2× |
| Not very effective | 0.625× | 0.5× |
| Main series 'no effect' | 0.39× | 0× |
| Double weakness | 2.56× | 4× |
GO has no 'no effect', so even Normal moves do a little damage to Ghost Pokémon.

For each type, the strongest raid attackers using only that type's moves, plus its weather boost, are on the type pages.
For dual-type Pokémon, multiply
When a Pokémon has two types, multiply the multipliers for each type. For example, Dragonite (Dragon/Flying) takes 2.56× from Ice moves, because Ice is super effective against both Dragon and Flying. On the other hand, if one type is super effective and the other is not very effective, 1.6 × 0.625 = 1×, so it's neutral.
We've calculated every Pokémon's damage multipliers on the "Matchups" tab of its detail page. To put two Pokémon head to head, use Compare Pokémon.
Checklist
- Start by finding the raid boss's double-weakness (2.56×) types
- Make sure your counters' move types aren't resisted (0.625×) by the boss
- In GO Battle League, keep your three Pokémon's weakness types from overlapping
