Evolution items and the Pokémon that use them
TrainingLast checked 2026-10-31
In 3 lines
- Some Pokémon need an evolution item on top of Candy to evolve. The Sinnoh Stone is used for 18 species and the Unova Stone for 7.
- You mainly get evolution items from PokéStop streak rewards, research and GO Battle League rewards.
- These items are scarce, so decide which Pokémon to use them on first, and use them on ones with good IVs.

How to get evolution items
- They're often in the reward on the day you complete a 7-day PokéStop spinning streak.
- You also get them from Field Research and Special Research, GO Battle League rewards, event rewards and the GO Pass.
How to save them
- An evolution item is gone once you use it, so use it first on Pokémon that will be useful after evolving (raid attackers and so on). For example: Electivire, Mamoswine, Gallade.
- Check IVs and use them on high-IV Pokémon (How to read IVs and appraisals).
- Some Pokémon learn a special move if they evolve during an event, so check event news (Events) first and hold on to your items.
Checklist
- Check the evolution items in your bag
- Decide which Pokémon get them first
- Make sure you have enough Candy to evolve
